UV DTF transfers produce vibrant, detailed designs for smooth, hard surfaces. They are applied using pressure only—no heat press, iron, or heat gun is required.

UV DTF transfers work best on smooth, clean, non-porous hard surfaces, including:

Surface materials and coatings vary. Test the transfer on the exact surface before beginning a large production run.

Not Recommended For

Do not apply UV DTF transfers to:

  • T-shirts, apparel, or other fabrics
  • Hats, bags, pillows, or blankets
  • Silicone or rubber
  • Raw, unsealed, or rough wood
  • Heavily textured surfaces
  • Oily or low-adhesion plastics
  • Flexible materials that bend or stretch
  • Safety-critical labels or equipment markings

For fabric and apparel, use standard DTF transfers designed for heat-press application.

Artwork Requirements

For the best results, upload:

  • Recommended file format: Transparent PNG; PDF files are also accepted
  • Resolution: 300 DPI
  • Color mode: CMYK recommended
  • Canvas size: The exact size selected
  • Background: Transparent unless a printed background is intentional
  • Orientation: Upload the design in the direction it should be printed
  • Mirroring: Do not mirror the design

Your design will be printed at the selected size. Review the dimensions, resolution, transparency, spelling, orientation, and artwork quality before completing your order.

Do not add a 0.25-inch bleed unless it is intentionally part of the printed design.

Artwork Quality Notes

Very thin lines, tiny text, isolated dots, and small floating elements can be more difficult to transfer. For better application:

  • Avoid extremely thin strokes
  • Make small text large enough to remain legible
  • Remove unwanted backgrounds
  • Avoid low-resolution or blurry images
  • Check that all important elements fit within the canvas
  • Use clean edges around the design

Artwork is printed as submitted. Files that require resizing, background removal, corrections, or other adjustments may delay production.

How to Order

  4. Review your artwork and selected dimensions.

Each uploaded file should contain one finished design. For multiple different designs, add each design separately or use one of our gang sheet products.

UV DTF Application Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Surface

Clean the application area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Remove all dust, oil, moisture, and residue, then allow the surface to dry completely.

Step 2: Pre-Squeegee the Transfer

Place the transfer face down with the white backing facing upward. Press firmly across the design with a squeegee two to four times.

Step 3: Remove the White Backing

Slowly separate the clear carrier film from the white backing. The design should remain attached to the clear carrier film.

If any part of the design remains on the white backing, lay the film back down and press that area again.

Step 4: Position the Design

Carefully position the transfer on the item before allowing the adhesive to touch the surface.

For cup wraps and larger designs, begin at one edge and gradually roll the transfer around the item. Do not place the entire wrap down at once.

Step 5: Apply Firm Pressure

Use a squeegee to press the design firmly from the center toward the edges. Make sure every part of the transfer has made full contact with the surface.

Step 6: Remove the Carrier Film

Slowly peel the clear carrier film away at a low angle. If any part of the design begins to lift, stop, replace the film, and press the area again.

UV DTF transfers are pressure-applied. Do not use a heat gun, heat press, iron, or any other heat source.

Drinkware Care Instructions

UV DTF transfers are water-resistant when correctly applied, but they are not dishwasher- or microwave-safe.

For the best durability:

  • Hand wash with mild soap and a soft sponge
  • Avoid soaking for long periods
  • Do not place in a dishwasher
  • Do not place in a microwave
  • Do not use bleach or abrasive cleaners
  • Do not scrub directly over the transfer
  • Avoid picking or scraping at the edges

Durability depends on the surface, preparation, application, exposure, and care. No transfer is guaranteed to resist every chemical, coating, temperature, or washing condition.

Application

Wrapping Curved Drinkware Without Bubbles

Flat decals go on like any sticker: clean, position, press, peel. Curved cup and mug wraps reward a little technique, and it is still pressure only, never heat.

Prep the Glass

Wash and fully dry the cup. Any dust, grease or fingerprint under the wrap becomes a permanent bubble.

Find Your Seam

Decide where the wrap edges will meet, ideally opposite the side people see. Line the wrap up level before anything touches the glass.

Roll It On

Anchor one vertical edge, then roll the wrap around the cup in one motion, smoothing outward with your thumb or a squeegee as you go.

Press, Then Peel

Squeegee the entire wrap firmly, chase out any air toward the nearest edge, and peel the clear film back slowly at an angle.

If an element lifts with the film Stop, lay the film back down, squeegee that spot again and peel from a different direction. Slow beats fast every single time with UV DTF.
