The 3001 is a lightweight 4.2 oz premium fabric. Here is how to handle common DTF, DTG, HTV, and wash-care questions.
PressMedium-high, not heavy, pressure

Cause
Too much pressure on the lightweight 4.2 oz fabric can press a visible platen or transfer outline into the shirt.
Fix
Use medium-high pressure, not heavy, and a press pillow or foam insert to absorb the edge. For DTF Dallas transfers, press at 290–310°F with medium to high pressure for 8–15 seconds, then hot peel. Test a sample before beginning large or bulk production.
Cause
Under-curing or skipped pretreat on dark colors is the most common cause of faded DTG on cotton.
Fix
Follow your ink, pretreat, and equipment supplier's curing instructions. A common Airlume cotton workflow uses standard pretreat for dark colors and a controlled cure around 320-330 degrees F for about 90 seconds, but settings may vary.
Cause
High heat is the most common cause. Hot water or a high dryer setting flexes the fabric and stresses the cured print layer.
Fix
Set clear wash-care expectations: cold wash, inside-out, low tumble dry. Include these instructions with every printed order.
Cause
The fabric is pre-shrunk, but hot wash plus high-heat drying can still cause an additional 2-3% shrinkage.
Fix
Recommend cold wash and low-heat dry to maintain the shape and softness of the lightweight fabric.
Cause
Moisture in the lightweight fabric or insufficient pre-press can prevent a full vinyl bond.
Fix
Pre-press the shirt 3-5 seconds to flatten and remove moisture, then apply HTV with medium pressure.
Cause
The lightweight 4.2 oz fabric can pucker under dense stitch counts without proper backing.
Fix
Use a cut-away stabilizer. For very dense designs, consider a heavier blank such as the Gildan 5000 or 64000.
Cause
Most 3001 colors are 100% cotton, which blocks dye-sub ink. Only poly-content colors take sublimation.
Fix
Use a polyester blank, or the Heather Prism colors with poly content. For burnout effects, use the 3001CVC blend.

Yes, it is excellent for DTF. The smooth Airlume combed cotton holds DTF detail beautifully. For DTF transfers, follow your transfer supplier's instructions. For DTF Dallas transfers, press at 290–310°F with medium to high pressure for 8–15 seconds, then hot peel. Test a sample before beginning large or bulk production. Use medium-high rather than heavy pressure on this lightweight 4.2 oz fabric to avoid platen imprinting.
Airlume cotton has about 2.5 times fewer impurities than standard cotton, producing sharper DTG prints with no white specks or fibrillation. For DTG printing, follow your ink, pretreat, and equipment supplier's curing instructions; a common workflow uses standard pretreat for dark colors and a controlled cure around 320-330 degrees F for about 90 seconds.
Minimally. The fabric is pre-shrunk during manufacturing. Hot wash and high-heat drying can cause an additional 2-3% shrinkage. Recommend cold wash and low-heat dry to maintain shape and softness.
